Claude C. "Marty" Martin, CEO of the University of North America is a proud veteran with 12 years of service in the US Army. Following his basic training at Fort Polk, Louisiana, he served as a trainer at Pershing Missile School in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He later served in different capacities and stationed at bases around the world. Marty was on active duty in Laos during the Vietnam War Era and received two medals for his accomplishments.
Marty was involved in advanced technologies throughout his military career. He was one of the first military personnel to be trained in computer programming. While on assignment at the Pentagon Communication Center, he participated in the development of DOD’s Advanced Research Projects Agency Network (ARPANET), which is considered “the world’s first internet.”
